Port Vila, 6 February 2025 – The Office of the Ombudsman has announced a temporary relocation of its operations from Ombudsman Haus on Rue Pasteur to the Govan Building, opposite Vila East School, effective 3rd February 2025. This move is intended to ensure continued access to its services while the Port Vila City Centre undergoes clearance for public accessibility. Once the area is deemed safe, the Ombudsman’s Office will resume its operations at its original location.

In addition to the relocation notice, the Ombudsman’s Office is reminding all Leaders, as defined under Article 67 of the Constitution of the Republic of Vanuatu and Section 5 of the Leadership Code Act [CAP 240], of their legal obligation to file their annual returns. The deadline for submission is 1st March 2025, in compliance with Section 31 of the Leadership Code Act [CAP 240].

Furthermore, any individual who has been newly appointed to a Leadership position must ensure that their first annual return is submitted within two months of assuming office.

The Office of the Ombudsman encourages all Leaders to meet these requirements promptly to uphold transparency and good governance. For further information or assistance, individuals are advised to contact the Ombudsman’s Office directly.
