The Ombudsman of the Republic of Vanuatu officially farewelled two officers from the Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) on Friday, 13 February 2026, marking the successful conclusion of their four month attachment with the Office of the Ombudsman.

The formal ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Mr. Glen Nicholson Mahina, and Deputy Director Chief Inspector Tony Pery.

In delivering the presentation of references, Ombudsman Mr. Hamlison Bulu commended Corporal Richard George and Police Constable John Teawa for their dedication, professionalism, and significant contribution to the completion of annual returns cases. Their work played a key role in strengthening the Ombudsman’s ability to effectively carry out its oversight functions.

Ombudsman Bulu expressed his sincere appreciation to the Office of the Commissioner of Police and the CID Director for facilitating the temporary deployment of the two officers. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the VPF and the Ombudsman’s Office in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance across public institutions.

The Office of the Ombudsman reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter agency cooperation as part of its efforts to enhance the delivery of justice, uphold ethical standards, and maintain public trust in the governance system.
