It is with great pleasure that the Office of the Ombudsman announces the recruitment of a new member of staff, Mr. Eric Bob, who joins the Office last week.

Mr. Bob hails from Tanna and is a former police officer. He brings valuable experience and knowledge that will strengthen the Office's investigation team and support its growing workload.

Mr. Bob will be based at the Ombudsman's Santo Office, following the retirement on medical grounds last year of long-serving staff member Mr. Charley Johnson.

Mr. Bob formally received his appointment last week and took the Official Oath at the Office of the Ombudsman.

As part of his induction, Mr. Bob had spend a week working alongside existing investigators in Port Vila to familiarise himself with the Office's investigative processes and responsibilities.

The recruitment is part of the Office’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its capacity to investigate complaints and matters involving public administration, leadership and the delivery of government services. Mr. Bob’s previous experience in law enforcement is expected to provide additional skills and practical knowledge to the investigation team.

His placement in Santo will also strengthen the Ombudsman’s presence in Sanma Province and provide greater accessibility to members of the public who may wish to raise concerns or lodge complaints with the Office.

The Santo office plays an important role in supporting the Office’s work outside Port Vila and in responding to matters from the northern provinces.

The Office welcomes him to the team and wishes him every success as he takes up his new role in Santo.
